I’m on gamestop for about another 5 weeks and having very similar thoughts. At the minute i feel I’m in a good place with my gambling and only had one bad session in an arcade in 6 months. That’s good for me. I would love to play again just what i can afford to lose on low to medium stakes but i just don’t trust myself as I’m very much an all or nothing person. I just wonder whether I’ve been better these last few months solely because the opportunity has been taken away. For me if it’s impossible to play i don’t really have the urge. I’ve only had the odd fiver or tenner in my mates account for the poker tournaments arranged on here. That’s it. It doesn’t take much to tilt me so I’m very much undecided at the minute. So i know exactly where your coming from.
I wish I could count the amount of times I have not gambled for a couple of weeks, thought right I have it under control I’ll just go in and have a quick £20, flash forward 30 minutes and I am £500 deep. If you think there is even a remote chance you are going to get savaged just stick with the gamstop.
The problem is that once it is in the slot it is just numbers on the screen – I know if the opportunity hadn’t been taken away from me today I would have now been sitting here feeling like shit wondering why I went in to the bookies. Most gamblers are all or nothing people, they win £300 and want to turn it into £3000 and then turn that into £30000
Most of the time we turn it into £0
Thanks for the advice. It’s weird in a way cos i feel like i have to have a big loss to re sign if i come off gamstop. I’d rather lose £500 in one hit then self exclude instead of losing £50 a week for a year making 2.5k loss. You’d probably say why lose the £500 in the first place and stay on gamstop but i know how i am and how my mind works. It’s like i have to justify it if that makes sense. If i leave it as is it will eat at me knowing i could come off it at anytime. I suppose maybe best option would be to extend the ban. I’ve gambled practically it feels like all my life and i know I’ll never give up but I’m trying to be wise. I suppose it’s damage limitation in a way.
00Blame away ha ha?. Anyway if it’s your first football bet it’s bound to win so good luck.
00Just in case you didn’t know, if you did cancel the ban and then wanted to get back on it again it’s a bit of a nightmare, 2 proofs of address and 2 forms of id, one you have to be seen holding the picture of the id. After this is accepted it will take up to another 7 days before the ban is put back in place. It’s a bit of a strenuous process so you may want to take that into consideration.
I always had the mindset that I’d go back on gamstop after Cheltenham finished and stuck to my word, even though I did make a decent profit during the time it was off, I just treated myself with the winnings rather than tempt myself to put it back in. My ban now is for 5 years as I feel much more content knowing my money is safe and not having to fight urges to deposit on a boring evening in.
good luck whatever you decide to do!
Thanks mate yeah i remember you posting after Cheltenham about saying how complicated it was to re sign back up. Very handy info that is.
00How do all, Would you buy a roulette app that suggests numbers to bet on, sets a profit target, calculates your returns after each spin, records the amount of time played, the amount of spins, gives you a win strike rate, lets you know when you have achieved target and after each game shows you some statistics ?
Be a bit deadly that mate. I couldn’t change my numbers. I would hate it if one of them came in and i hadn’t bet on it. I’m an 8 and 11 man myself plus a few of the middle line.
01Cheers for replies guys. Hope everyone has a good weekend. Be lucky and as always I’m sure we will keep each other informed of our ups and downs. As a liverpool fan will be definitely cheering on Celtic. Eight black seen many 100 to one come in so good luck. Hope move goes well jb. People say it’s pretty stressful moving house. Malkychamp no need to wish you luck. You’ve won enough and you don’t need the money. ??. Mr b hope your feeling better today.

01What the actual FUCK is this post about. I work next to a CS team here. So trust me when i say….
Customer service agents work damn hard. 40-50hr weeks in hot offices, taking on up to 8 chats at a time. You may think their job is easy but imagine the shit they get. Im looking at our current chat lists for our sites we host the CXM for, and its all over the place. You get people asking nicely why a game is down, lovely. Then you have KYC compliants, issues with logging in when people are so stupi they dont realise where to put the password, and then, worst of all, death threats.
CS agents are given death threats on average 10 times a day. TEN times. Imagine working in that environment.
There are also policies in place by casinos and licencing commissions for this type of thing. They are NOT allowed to give advice, apologise, offer any form of “guidance” as it could result in lawsuits from people. They have to refer them to gamcare, or whatever, and talk to a member of staff internally.
3 weeks ago our head of HR’s boyfriend was head of CS at a large casino, he was on chat and someone said they just took 80 pills. He called the local ambulance who got sent round to his house from the system information. They got there, the guy ended up ok. I dont know if the guy would have called ambulance himself but the CS agents are there to help people. Not their fault you gamble. If you lose you lose. I lose. we all lose. Its our choice.
Their job is hard. Dont give them shit. Ive seen people quit, walk off crying, its a painful job.
I think the op is more trying explain what gambling can do in the extreme. He also said it could happen to anyone at anytime who gambles. Personally in any addiction drugs and alcohol people can have these thoughts as well as people who are victims or crime. People who suffer from domestic abuse. People who just feel there is no way out. This isn’t just gambling this could be anything in life in general in my opinion. You know i think this forum could do with an interpreter sometimes.?
00It’s like the people who say alcoholics and gambling addicts don’t have an addiction it’s an illness. In other words that implies to me not their fault. Gambling in my family is hereditary so can’t be my fault right. I was born a gambler with this illness. Load of bollox i say. Yes i may have an addictive personality but i made these choices no one forced me. The adverts, fobts, flashing lights, the videos. I know everything I’ve done over the years is my fault and i have to take responsibility for that and so should others end of.
Hi Eightblack… I was writing a long post but to be honest I can’t be arsed this morning.. Yes your correct
Brother.
There’s plenty of help & Support groups out there for addicts, it’s lucky we have that in the UK.
And most off the EU.
Hi Haz…This old argument lol mate.
Dont take offence to how people define their addiction, it’s there choice. Some will say its a illness because they are in treatment and it’s a better way for them to define it. And as long as they have an understanding that it’s treatable they have a good chance to kick it.
On the other hand Some will use the “Illness” to commit scumbaggery… I tend to see the person & If their looking for actual help to recover then I’ll help, if their upto B.S. me then they receive B.S. in return.
Were all different & that’s the beauty of life.
Ive learned not to expect anything in life, then I don’t get disappointed/Let down as much, and that helps me greatly.
So I see the Illness argument as just something that can upset me, so I don’t tend to go there often. I see you as a online friend and am only saying don’t let it upset you brother because when us addicts get upset we can do damage to ourself’s.
Enjoy your day Peeps & be lucky
If that’s a short post I’d hate to read one of your long ones lol. I’m at work at 10.30 wouldn’t have time to read it.??. I will try and enjoy my day and you enjoy yours. Have a good one mate.

11Even I’m bit baffled by this one. Are you saying the staff on live chat couldn’t care less? Are you just pointing out gambling can contribute to suicides? Are these live chats making you have these thoughts? Are you implying more you be done in regards to the dangers of gambling? I’d like to think I’m well educated but there are a few of us who genuinely just don’t understand some of your posts.
00Well done mate. I did wonder if you’d had a bad couple of days as you hadn’t posted much. Great to see you got that plus more besides.??
