Right – so don’t get me started on Gamstop. I actually think the operation is borderline legal from a GDPR perspective. I was personally self excluded to five years like you but they will continue to tell operators you were self excluded for another seven years. They will also hold your personal data for another seven years on top of that  So in my case (and yours), they are holding personal data for 19 years. Which is beyond excessive. Of those 19 years, they’ll share it with operators for 12 years. This goes against one of the key aspects of GDPR which is the “right to be forgotten”  I’ve currently got a complaint outstanding with the ICO but doubt it’ll go anywhere

Anyway, in answer to your questions from someone in a similar place 🙂

Videoslots we’re good, smooth verification process and quick withdrawals. PlayOJO were fine taking my money but slower on withdrawals

For context, Videoslots were generally next days, PlayOJO took about 48 hours

I’ll be the boring cunt….( obviously I’m basing this on the fact you went on gamstop for the same reason everybody else does)

So if you taken 5 years off beacsue  you had  issues and got into why you had issues, therapy and councillors and all that and you think you can handle it, then I think they suggestion above are decent

if you took game stop for 5 years and basically  blanked all casinos and didn’t get into why you needed gamstop and you think “5 years of not drinking sorts out alcoholism “ then just  go back on GameStop …

I’m not judging you, if you sorted the route of the problem then the suggestion above are Great

If you “cold Turkeyed” five years and didn’t sort out the issues then going back isn’t a good move….

im not mum, but at least somebody here said it …. Hope you don’t take offence mate ..

I’ve never Gamstopped or Gambanned myself, but I did self-exclude from land based years ago.  That was from a time when cash was still used frequently.  COVID then turned us largely into a cashless society, so I don’t have this problem any more.  I can leave my cards at home, pay for everything with my phone and it means I don’t have to draw cash from an ATM to gamble away.

I find managing my gambling addiction online easier because I set a monthly limit and I only use 2 casinos.  It used to be Royal Panda and Video Slots, and when Royal Panda left the UK market, I switched that to William Hill and still use Video Slots to make it 2 casinos.

@Exgambler69 – as you have a history of addiction like myself and many others on here, I think try limiting the number of casinos and set a monthly limit on the casino’s site.  It will help against impulse gambling, knowing that it takes 7 days to raise or remove a limit, but setting a limit is instant.  Maybe try this for 2 months then see if it’s something you still enjoy.  Also, as you Gamstopped 5 years ago, a lot of changes have been brought in by the UKGC in that time.  Some I agree with such as not being able to reverse withdrawals and others I don’t agree with such as removing autoplay.  Banning bonus buys is inconsistent because you can’t buy a 50p/£50 (100X) feature any more, yet you can still put £50 worth of chips on the roulette wheel or Crazy Time etc.

    Hi,

Did you formally ask gamstop for the right to erasure?

What was their response and have you had any luck with the ico yet
