    Yo! I’m on a bit of a hot streak at the moment, so I have accumulated a decent amount of cash. Although I don’t consider myself to have a gambling problem, I don’t want to be tempted. Ideally I’d like to have a portion of this money locked away, but able to use it daily for purchases (e.g. fuel, food etc. – both online and in-person).

    As far as I know, this doesn’t seem to exist anywhere?

    In my head, the dream scenario would be a credit card that simply doesn’t allow cash transactions (gambling, casino deposits, cash withdrawals etc.). That way I can use it for everything I need and pay it off each month.

    Failing that, a card that I can pre-load with my own cash and it works the same way – with no cash access.

    Any ideas?

    I have a Monzo account that you can restrict gambling transactions on, but it still wouldn’t stop me from withdrawing and heading to the casino. Or I could simply transfer money to one of my other bank accounts and use that anyway with a click of a button. So it doesn’t really help me.

    Don’t know if it would help but i had a Santander account and card which wouldn’t work when trying to deposit into gambling sites. I don’t think they honour any gambling transactions. It was a business account but i wouldn’t be surprised if the current accounts were the same. I know you could still transfer money but all the rig moral of setting up internet or telephone banking would hopefully deter you of transferring any money.

    @Rbreen91 – very accurate, I know better. ?

    Cheers @Haz40!

    Sorry, just realised I wasn’t clear in my original post!

    So I still want to gamble, and be able to deposit online or withdraw cash for the casino. But I want to “restrict” a certain amount now, and each month in the future, to allocate for day-to-day spend. So I’d need a separate, locked account (or card) essentially, that I couldn’t transfer back and use on gambling.

    Hope that makes sense. It’s mad that nothing like this seems to exist!

    Order a new card. And scratch last 3 digits off the back. That way. Can’t be used online. Go further by getting someone else to (trustworthy) to open your mail when you know it’s the one with your pin in. Then only use it for contactless.

    What about one of them Visa electrons? They don’t have a security number on the back as far as I’m aware but they don’t allow online transactions. If not, capital one I think do pre paid cards, and so do skrill but guess they charge. I would personally open a savings account, set it as a parent/under 18 one if they can so you wont be able to gamble on it, but will be able to buy online. Check banks, I’m sure I’ve heard of things like these before 🙂

    Monzo have monthly cash withdrawal limits I believe, or if not they start charging a fee on each withdrawal after some fairly low amount. Premium bonds are an option; of course you can cash them in but not on a whim in 5 minutes.

    But the truth is, it doesn’t matter where or in what form you put your money, if you want to find a way to gamble with it you will. My best advice would be accept you’ve had a good streak, sign up to Gamstop for 6 months, bar yourself from land based bookies and casinos and enjoy the money.

    some banks let you have two debit accounts if they are different types of accounts. The importance of this is you can set up a standing oder on a debit account, which back years ago this wasn’t available on other accounts such as savings accounts. also future payments is also available to move money from one account to another.

    So open up two debit accounts with the same bank, use one as the main one and any surplus money (winnings etc) send to the other account(the account with your 3 digits scratched of the back of the card/ even better dont have a card for that account- cut it up)this second debit account I believe some banks allow money not to leave for a set amount of days nhalifax used to do this years ago. failing that as seddy said send it directly to an isa. As far as food and fuel payments you can get a sainsbury’s top up voucher gift card voucher for yourself for food and petrol stations used to do similar years ago but you’d have to look into that. not sure if pre paid credit cards have an option of barring casino purchases spending

    If you have a barclays card you can turn off gambling transactions among other things.
