I don’t know where to start here. All my life I’ve gambled. Even since i was a kid I’ve played slots and gambled on anything and everything i could. I know no different. I have never not gambled so i don’t know what it’s like not to gamble and a life without it. Even been on gamstop i would still visit arcades and play slots occasionally play fobts put bets on and you my mates account for online poker. Over 30 years of gambling. 25 days ago now i decided I’d had enough. I haven’t placed a bet. Put even 10p in a slot. No online poker. I still maintain i will play poker in the pub on Saturday night £10 buy in but as far as bookies arcades and online goes they can do one. It’s been a difficult 25 days but I’m determined as hell. I’ve had amazing support from lots of people and now i can’t let them or myself down. I hope i can do this permanently i really do. I didn’t want to make a post like this until i was a few weeks into stopping. Sometimes I’m a bit bored and I’m trying to fill my time up. I’m certainly not anti gambling and i wish i could gamble sensibly and in moderation but i cant. I wish i would of tried to stop years ago now. I’ve no idea if i will succeed and i feel this is one of the biggest challenges in my life. I’m a competitive person. I wont lose. This will not beat me. I will beat it.

Let me be the first to say well done with opening up. The first step in making change is to admit you have a problem. As each day passes being gamble free the easier it will become it’s just like giving up smoking.

Regarding poker did you play Mtts or cash games?

Played cash and tournaments online will 888 bet365 party poker and poker stars. When i had my head on i made quite a bit of money went through a six month spell of playing 1.10 and 2.20 tournaments winnings 2 and finishing 2nd twice. Each tournament had 2000 plus entrants but when my mind wasn’t right I’d go big on cash or play 55 dollar tournaments or 109 dollars losing mainly on cash games. I’m probably up on tournaments if I’m honest but they take hours and hours which i don’t have. I’ve always said i will still play live in the pub. It’s a tenner and yes you can re buy but i see it as entertainment and it’s the only form of gambling I’m in profit. My poison has always been slots but if i bet on horses or football i know it can tilt me to play slots so got to give that up as well.

Thanks mate. I know it won’t be easy but i truly am sick of it. I’m 42 now and fed up of grafting and earning a decent wage for nothing. I’m still a bit in debt but it’s manageable. It’s time for me to grow up.

That’s amazing Haz. I struggle to go a day and it’s always on my mind. I’ve lost thousands over the years as any win is never enough. Live blackjack is my poison at the moment but I do love the slots. Always have. Best of luck and keep that determination going ?

Think I might join you Haz. Keep up the good work mate. I’m the unluckiest gambler in the world, so fuck knows why I do it lol.

Gonna be hard but I’m gonna give it a try from today. Hope it carries on going well for you, and it gets easier each week that goes by.

Gambling addiction is a hard as fuck habit to crack. And all this manipulated advertising by streamers has to stop now. They say they understand and feel for their followers losing thousands and fucking their lives up. Yet all they do is put a 2 second clip saying “gamble  responsibly” in the front of their uploads. Then proceed to deposit thousands of pounds….spin at fivers and tenners…and put links to several casinos in the descriptions. It’s just a massive head fuck that they all do.

I know they have to earn a living but….by now they all should be earning a ton from affiliation. So why not just remove the links. Actually upload some videos explaining the pitfalls of becoming a compulsive gambler….talk about how it’s all a big con. Talk about how this horrific addiction can ruin people’s lives.

Rolla did one once! About 1- 2 years ago. But other than that, I don’t think a single affiliated streamer has opened up and been true about addiction. I’d like to see Bandit do one. I know he’s spoken in here about it. But I’d like to see a video from him. With no links or fuck all. Just for him to be open and honest about this truly manipulative and cancerous system.
