So today is the day that my 5 year self exclusion is up on Sky bet

so ringing them up they remind me about the Gamstop self exclusion that is still in play started in April 2018 until April 2023

bollocks !!!!

so she said I should contact Gamstop and speak to them to see if I could be released from skybet

while on the phone they mentioned there is a new scheme from December 2020 that you can now self exclude specific online casinos or sports books called SENSE .
now apparently the full exclusion on sense has been there since 2015 but this new option has only been around since December .

Below is my complain to the gambling commission asking gamstop to release me from my current self exclusion to them be allowed to join the other scheme .

Now before you get on you high horse and say “you self exclude yourself blah blah blah “ my issue was never sports betting on football it was roulette especially FOBT now that has been removed from high street bookies I now put footy bets on there . ( oh wait there closed due to lockdown ) so there’s my predicament .

I don’t want to open a dodgy account somewhere in the Ukraine or get someone to open an account with me . I want to be able to gamble sensibly with my own limits on the sport that I enjoy betting on .

now if the scheme named above was available when I joined Gamban there wouldn’t be an issue . However like you see in (new customer only ads) I should be allowed the same option now with new schemes that I wasn’t allowed back then

Hi I would like to wish to complain about GAMSTOP.

I have self excluded myself from online casinos back in April 2018 as I was having issues staying away from online roulette .

However I also liked to place online football bets with sites such as KWIFF , bet 365 and SkyBet

Now thinking of the greater good I decided to use gamstop because I was unable to choose the specific casinos I wished to stay away from .

I have now been informed by GAMSTOP that there is a new platform on SENSE (Self-Enrolment National Self-Exclusion scheme) that allows you to choose specific casinos you wish to self exclude from .

I would like to join this platform because I’d like to be able to rejoin the above sports betting pages however GAMSTOP will not release me from my current self exclusion commitment not due to end till 2023.

Of this option was allowed in 2018 I would have joined this option as sports betting on the football something I have done since I was 18 was never an issue only FOBT and online roulette .

Is there anything that can be done to release me from the current commitment and enrole in the new self exclusion program especially now that high street bookmakers are currently shut due to lockdown ?

You’re completely and utterly wasting your time, not to mention SENSE is nothing to do with online casinos just land based casinos (and possibly land based bookies and arcades) so two completely different things

There are NO WAYS WHATSOEVER to cancel your Gamstop early, you won’t be able to gamble online again until April 2023 and even then expect to jump through some massive hoops when you try and sign up to gambling sites again who will see your Gamstop marker!

So from my understanding SENSE is land based exclusions from casinos. There is nothing to do with banning from specific casinos. Unless they have changed it in the last 6 months. I understand your point, but you can just self exclude at specific casinos if you wanted back then. You are never gonna be released early, they have a responsibility to you and are obligated by law. Once your self exclusion ends with GameStop my suggestion is to ban yourself from as many casinos as possible and open a poker stars account. On pokerstars you can block yourself from the specific sections. Be it casino, poker or sportbook. So on pokerstars you won’t be able to play any casino games if you ban yourself from them.

If I remember rightly you can also block certain parts of Sky Vegas.

Coming off Gamstop will make life very difficult with casinos, I’m pretty sure sky Vegas aren’t too bad though ?? if they still exist in 2023 ?

You can block from poker and betting separately on Sky Vegas but blocking from slots blocks from all ? that’s a bit rubbish

I was speaking to a customer service person on gamstop who informed me that Sense is now like gamstop but you can pick the online casinos .

so I’ve no reason to doubt her .

I’ve been looking and I can’t find anything related to SENSE and online casinos. Even with SENSE you can’t pick and choose which land based casinos you can play at. If you are on SENSE then every casino nationallly that are enrolled won’t let you in. So not sure why IF SENSE came over to the online realms it would change the way it works. I think the advisor has got it wrong or is confusing it with something else. 2 and abit more years of saved money. How about you place sports bets in a excel sheet and keep track of how much you save just from sports bets between now and the end of your GameStop.
