Anybody else reckon Grosvenor were guilty of just “locking up a win” by suspending Bandit’s account?

Let’s be honest. “We care about responsible gambling” is the biggest lie in the industry. Nobody gives a fuck about you or your gambling habits, they certainly don’t want you to gamble responsibly. If punters gambled responsibly, they wouldn’t be making any money.

2 semi-contradictory statements but Grosvenor know Bandit’s play style. Cutting him off locked up the 50k he was in for before he was able to hit a top.

Casinos want you to carry on gambling. Games aren’t compensated, so it doesn’t matter if he’s £50k in or not, the house still has the edge. As long as there is a house edge, the casino will want you to carry on because chances are they’ll make even more off you.

This gives light to a very interesting discussion, who decides when you’re done / had enough?

If we look at the laws around alcohol, those selling the product are both responsible for making sure you’re of the minimum age and what current state you are in, on the first hand objective and the second subjective. It is the responsibility if the person providing you access to that particular ‘product’ to use their discretion in determining whether to continue to provide their service to you.

As much as I love what Bandit does, the days that allow that level of deposit / loss are numbered. Eventually the regulations will catch up with other mainstream industries making the ‘intervention’ like we witnessed today more and more common.

Bandit is a special case, and given his profile the casino should be fully aware of his bankroll so in this scenario I don’t agree that they allow him to go that deep and then stop him, if that was their intention that should’ve been communicated to the player as a minimum BEFORE they get to that level of commitment.

However the casino also have to be commended, there is no illusion that they know who Bandit is and if they are willing to suspend his account then this gives a strong message to their commitment to reducing the problems which we all know go hand in hand with gambling. There are very few people that can ‘afford’ to commit that level of funds to gambling and if this happened to be an average person who they helped avoid a catastrophic scenario then I believe its worth the frustration of others.

I fully understand the argument of punishing / limiting the majority for the benefit of a minority, but given the seriousness of what we all know to be the consequences I firmly believe its worth the ‘frustration’.

Any loss of this level, regardless of how much money you earn is heartbreaking, but if you think of it with a clear head all those big wins which are posted / streamers talk about come at a price that Bandit paid in this video. The casino doesn’t lose (or very rarely loses) we are effectively on an exchange against each other, Europe wide.

My personal gambling situation has been up and down but I am recently signed up to Gamstop as I believe this is the only way to stop me throwing everything I’ve worked to build away in the long term. The guy in the pub is assessed before every drink is dispensed to him, to save him from his habit / vice and his potential to do harm to himself and others.

We are seeing the GA imposing more and more requirements on casinos to validate peoples age and funds, the only piece of the puzzle missing is the same kind of subjective safeguards becoming mandatory.

Only my opinion / insights please don’t hate, if you have a difference of opinion please share it in a decent way.

I’d like to mention more about the grief for the videos. Many people who follow the bandit also follow rolla. Rolla hasn’t streamed in weeks. Does he get grief No. Does he get people moaning on his forum No. For some reason though some of the bandit followers on twitter are different certainly more impatient and almost acting like he owes them. Don’t get me wrong i look forward to the bandit videos as much as the next person but if he went a month without a video i wouldn’t exactly lose sleep over it. The videos are free to watch. They are entertaining when we get to watch one but it’s not the end of the world if we have to wait for one. Every week people ask when the vid is going up even after previous videos explaining when the next one will be so chill out people if you can wait weeks for a rolla stream without giving grief you can wait for the bandit to do a video.

What I’m more concerned about is you have to go over 19k in before you get cut off. Let’s be fair theres isn’t many people who can afford to go 19k in one session. Does grosvenor have a compulsory deposit limit in place if not surely it cant be legal to just cut a player off when they are so much in. If a player decides to put limits in place then fair enough. I think it’s fine to contact the player to make sure they are ok with what they are doing but they shouldn’t just stop the play.

The videos are paid for out of Bandit’s bank account and are free for you to watch. The forum also has no cost for you to be a troll on.

still must feel horrible , imagine u go to the gambling mecca and everythings great good wins high stakes ,shopping , eating, baller hotel room(I assume) and get on the flight home 20k richer than you left . get home , sitting in your boxers(I assume) no drinks, no fancy hotel, no treatment, and lose a brand new 7 series bmw. then come on here where we people your “fans” saying shit “I think you need a break” “you’ve changed” “your only rich because others lost” . the crown is heavy and doesn’t come cheap.
