Although it feels unlucky, it’s important to remember that the visuals (e.g. a near miss) play no representation in how the spin played out. The spin decided you were going to win £x and therefore showed you that outcome – the near miss is just there by coincidence and/or to tilt the player, but it certainly doesn’t mean that you were “close” to winning a jackpot.
