My wife set up an account and borrowed my credit card to deposit £200 POUNDS after a roller coaster and some incredible luck she managed to get up to £12616.21P well they then sent her an email saying they are withholding the money and just put the original deposit back to the card. what is annoying tho she deposited the money at 5.45 ish and they only decided that she needed to verify the account at 6.40 am the following morning but only after getting to the amount stated. The money is life changing for us a deposit for a house. Absolutely gutted she has been inconsolable floods of tears thinking it’s her fault and it breaks me to see her like that when she told me how much she had won I said it’s probably to good to be true. It just feels like even when you win you never actually win. What was funny tho is there was no problems until she started winning if that original deposit had just been lost would they then have been in contact and said sorry here is your money back I think not.
This really annoys me

Casino T&C are NOT the law of the United Kingdom. Just because it’s written in the T&C does not make it absolute or legal.

The spirit of the laws regarding verification are specifically to target money laundering, ID theft/fraud, that kind of thing. It is not illegal to use someone else’s money to gamble, provided you have their permission. If you are out with your wife at the casino and give her £20 to put in a slot machine, she is gambling with your money. There is no difference between a card, a cheque or a bank note. If she wins big is the casino going to withhold funds? Of course not because there would be a fucking riot.

It doesn’t matter where the money came from or who pressed the button. All that matters is that money was wagered. Losses and wins count the same. If you accept the loss, you accept the win.

There was no attempt at deception or fraud from the man or his wife. There is no illegal activity here whatsoever.

This casino doesn’t want to pay out £12K, right? I think we should cost them 10 times that until they learn their lesson. If the story is true and OP names the casino, I think we should all boycott that casino chain and actively work against them until they honour their obligation to pay this guy and his wife.

    @kingkennyoo9

You’re gonna get alot of forum members saying its your fault. And that you should have read the the T&C’s plus try to make a joke out of this truly disgusting situation.

I really feel for you and your wife mate. Take the bastards to court.

Ive said this loads of times on this forum….The casinos have put so much bollocks in their terms that its almost impossible to get clarity when it comes to playing there.

You proved beyond doubt to them that its yours and your wifes money that has been deposited, yet they dont pay.

    They are ABSOLUTE FRAUDULENT CUNTS

And i bet my life that if you had lost that deposit, no way would they have asked for verification. You could have deposited hundreds of times without verification if you were losing and not tried to withdraw.

I don’t think people are going to make jokes out off it . Some casinos would pay out . Most casinos do 1 account per household .so using wife’s card should just be a case off sending wedding certificate . Which I did at bet Victor no problem . Wasn’t for 12 grand though .

Yeah your probably right that people won’t make jokes. Sorry i wrote that bit. But bet your bottom dollar that some members will defend the casinos shady practices .

Makes me SMH so much that they defend them.

If Your win is legitimate and with no fraudulent behaviour, then you should be paid….end of!

Im sickened to read this post.

<span style=”font-size: 1rem;”>The terms and conditions casinos used are all put in place to fuck us over. And the way the company has failed to pay out is solid proof of it. You explained to them and fully proved that their is no fraud involved here, yet they still won’t pay. Its just fucking sick what they do.</span>

I put my life on the line that you could have used that credit card hundreds of times without verification if you were losing and not tried to withdraw.

Casinos are businesses and will therefore leap on any chance to not pay out money they don’t have to. But they’re also heavily regulated, which means as long as you abide by the terms and conditions they don’t have a leg to stand on. I never had a problem cashing out from any casino because I made sure I read the terms and stuck to them. Some, like only using your own account, your own card, your own ID, should be pretty obvious, others people tend to fall foul of are bonus wagering, bonus excluded games and maximum stakes with bonus funds. Double check everything you type in when you sign up. Put in the wrong house number by mistake? You need to contact support and correct that before they ask you to verify your account. Make sure your account is verified before you attempt any large withdrawal. Only ever try to withdraw to the same card used to deposit.

Stick to these rules and the casinos can’t screw you out of your money. Trying to take them to court in a case like this won’t get you anywhere, the contract you make with them is in accordance with the terms they publish and if those terms say the card you use to deposit has to be your own, you have no recourse if you then use someone else’s card. If you do want to use a spouse’s card and have their permission, always contact the casino beforehand and explain the situation. If they allow this kind of arrangement, expect your spouse will also be required to send in ID and verification.

There you go didnt take long for a “defender” to appear did it lol.

    @argyl53

allow you to deposit multiple times using any payment method for months on end. Aslong as you dont withdraw meaningful amounts. Soon as you do they will pounce with claws out, Spouting garbage from their shady terms and conditions.

Its ok saying we should have read the terms. But cmoooon! Who reads the fkin terms lol. Plus they know and pray people dont. Thats why its hidden in a time corner. When you do read the terms its 100 page long and worded in a way that is in no way Clear!

Yeah its a buisness and yeah its what they do to make more money.

I can accept what shady thing they do

What i “Cant” accept is certain people defending the scummy thing they do. I

The only thing they can do , is to treat deposits like they do cash outs . Verify before deposit when joining that would stop all this.  But I don’t know it’s a tough one . Feel bad it’s prob once in a lifetime dream hit for most people 12k .

Yeah it will be a once in a lifetime dream hit and I do feel bad for the player when this sort of situation arises, but it’s so easily avoidable. Look at The Bandit, has he had trouble withdrawing literally hundreds of thousands from Casumo and Videoslots over the last year? Of course not, because he’s using his own verified account and his own card. These rules aren’t buried in some obscure section of lengthy legal documents, they’re common to all casinos because they’re the rules laid down by the industry regulator. Most of the practices around verification and withdrawals exist to prevent fraud and money laundering. Again, any casino will obviously jump at the chance to void your winnings if they have even half a legitimate excuse to do it, so what you do as a player is stick to the rules and not give them one.

I still think the casino’s could put a system in place to automatically decline payments if the card name doesn’t match the account name. They use this grey area to fall back on to weasel out of paying people, it’s disgusting. Yes, it’s in the T&C’s but they could put measures up like I said so these scenarios don’t occur but they won’t because it means they get to keep the deposit if you lose and only have to refund it if you win – win win for them. It’s immoral and makes my piss boil but then it’s a casino so I’m not really surprised….they used to be run by criminals after all and generally not much has changed!

Isn’t using your partners card, without a joint account, a risky action in the bank’s eyes anyway though? I remember a couple of years ago I was in the bank branch itself, and I overheard a man say his wife uses his card also, and the member of staff he was dealing with started talking about a breach of terms, as no one was supposed to use that card but him.

I did think nowadays you can use your partners card with permission, but it seems a bit of a grey area. A simple Google will give contradicting results, I have found.

Overall, I do completely agree with @argyl53 here – however, I also feel, in this situation, that the transaction should be blocked by the casino immediately upon depositing where the details do not match the account holders. Surely this isn’t a difficult check for the casinos to set up?

Im glad this subjects discussion is atleast 50/50 for once 🙂

I know people here have said that they dont want to go through the verification process when they deposit….they just wanna play immediately! And yeah im one of those people who want to play immediately lol. But i would like to find atleast one single casino that won’t let you play until your account is completely verified!

I mean it would in no way take much to put this in place.

    Passport – Check

    Address – Check

    Mobile number – Check

    Bank card – Check…..

    BOOM YA VERIFIED!

But that will never happen….why?…..because of this subject matter. EXTRA Dirty fraudulent £ in their shady pockets.
