Hi everyone, so I had a sky bet account in 2010 which I self excluded for 5 years. I had genuinely forgotten about that account and set a new account up with them in 2015. Skybet themselves confirmed they ‘have procedures on place to identify accounts like this in order to close them down’. I have since lost over £3000 with them. They themselves said that in order to place bets on either account I would have needed to have had s self exclusion chat at the end of the exclusion period which never happened. My argument is I am technically still suspended and they should refund me the net losses. They state it was my responsibility for setting the new account however taking into account their admission that they have procedures in place they should have identified my account within a matter of hours not over 4 years. All details were the same other than my first name .. Andy instead of Andrew.

Does anyone agree with me that they have accepted irresponsibly in respect of responsible gambling and should refund me the losses?

P.s the gambling commission confirmed that a different first name i.e Andy or Andrew is not enough for them to hide behind

    Thanks

So you have lost money and are trying to find loopholes to try and get your money back.   Had you had won,  would you of gladly taken the money or would you be trying to find loopholes so the casino would not have to pay you?

Your a grown man, take responsibility for your actions.

Fair point MurciPete, but then again why the hell shouldn’t he try, i mean a lot of casinos play that game with the players by using vague terms etc to void winnings. Not saying Sky do i have yet to have any issues with them myself.

These days though most if not all casinos require you to have a chat on the phone to make sure you are in control of your gambling, aware of deposit limits etc before they make a decision to allow you to play there again so there could be a case for complaint.

So you self excluded for 5 years with Sky and reopened an account and it wasn’t flagged, you could have a case like is said, im not sure though as the 5 year exclusion on the other account has ended.

Probably best to ask over at casinomeister forum they know a lot regarding SE issues and whether you have a case to argue it.

I’m confused, did you start up the new account after the 5 year period had ended? If so it’s unreasonable of you to ask for losses back in my eyes. However, if this was done during that period then absolutely yes!

I don’t think you will win this one mate. As others have states if you had won big and they refused to pay out, you know you would fight it to try and gt the money.

Keep us updated as it will be interesting to see what their final response is

They suspended my account a few weeks ago, that’s when they claim to have identified the duplicate account. I simply put it to them that due to not actually having the chat you refer to in your post I am technically still self excluded. I think that’s a fair point to make, is it not?

@MurciPete this has happened at a different casino around 7 years ago, that time I won. They identifed the duplicate account within two hours and refused to pay me, they simply refunded my deposit, so in response to your rather rude post, this has happened before and yes I was on the receiving end in that I had won and was not paid out, why is this any different, if it works in the casinos favour when I win surely it should be the rang when I lose?

Constructive responses welcome, being spoken to like a child is not.

    Thanks

Don’t behave like a child then.   It’s the whole dishonesty thing that gets me!     Deposit money,  gamble, lose, try and find ways of getting your money back.    If you can’t take the loss, don’t gamble!

There was a slight overlap according to Skybet.

Of course 100% if I had won I would try and get the money as I did with the example in my second post (888.com). There was no chance they were going to pay, I see this as no different?

Why should one casino refund the deposit when I win in these circumstances and one refuse?

@MurciPete you’re starting to grate now, you tell me how wanting continuity across gambling sites and providers is acting childish? Or do you not understand what I’m actually saying here? The exact same has happened on two sites.. I won on one and they refused to pay me they gave me my deposit back. Now sky bet the exact same only I lost .. and they are refusing to refund my deposits. If wanting continuity is childish then stop the world I’ll get off thanks.

The amount and indeed the money itself is irrelevant, don’t for one second think I simply need the money, far from it. Think before you comment.

Just ask over at casinomeister mate its the best bet, they know their stuff and get a lot of questions regarding SE/Duplicate account issues. They will let you know if you have a case for complaint or not.
