Hi guys
The missus has been a bit silly with catalogues from her younger years and a credit card with debts totalling around £6000.
Two of these debts are now a CCJ. She earns £300 a month from a cleaning job and a little from benefit. Bank is at zero end of each month.
All these debts are at her parents address and bailiffs have been showing up. She lives with me and our son. Everything in our house I own. the tele, laptop and car probably being our only saleable assets. We rent the house.
Shes only just opened up about this debt and wondering what our options are.
1. Is a DRO an option?
2. Will the DRO affect me? Will it go against our address or her parents?
3. Does it matter that the debts are now CCJs?
Shes panicking as Bailiff showed up at her parents and wants a £300 payment. Although we want to tackle this I think she should face them all and start over. Credit rating is shot anyway.
Help appreciated. Thankyou

007th April 2019 at 6:31 am #59571Hey,
A DRO would probably be her best bet.
1. Yes, she rents, doesn’t have any real assets and her debts is less than £20,000.
2.it will only affect her. The days of addresses being blacklisted are long gone, it’s all on the individual now.
3. Doesn’t matter
hope this helps 🙂

I’d get her to give a debt charity like Step Change a buzz if I was you.
It’s free advice and you get to talk to someone none judgemental so whatever is on her mind then she can just get it all off her chest…

All the best x
