You don’t  have to use the link to enter betfair draw. Just have an account and been active that month.

Hi there. I am usually a lurker myself and prefer the wit of others BUT…

Before Steve gives the money away to charity he does need to get some legal advice as he may be in breach of the ASA and CAP guidelines for promotion of free draws. This isn’t my area of expertise but i do work in marketing and have to adhere to these rules myself for all free giveaways that we manage for companies we work with. Unless it is stated in terms and conditions at the point of entering the draw that it may be cancelled at any time (which to be honest i cannot remember!) then a complaint to the ASA (advertising standards agency) by a disgruntled entrant could not only give you a massive fine but also still force you to still run the competition. I do remember reading a while ago about “abuse” of competition entries by multiple votes which allowed the competition owner to not choose the first drawn but they still had to offer that prize to the the next drawn person.

It is a minefield and as this has got a lot of peoples knockers in a twist then i suggest you check on this as it may ending up biting you in the bum and in the long term costing you a packet.

I like that you are giving to charity but hold off till you check mate.

@argyl53 I don’t disagree with your earlier reply to me, and I was perhaps complacent in my suggestion mods were removing people for simply having a view.  On reflection, they do indeed seem to be resigned to not using the forum again, though sending them off with a public slap may be a little OTT – to some at least.

Email verification links and reCAPTCHA will thwart 99% of script kiddies, and £3,000 probably wouldn’t motivate the remaining 1%.  SMS verification codes would be a good one which, provided the privacy policy is right, would pay for itself thousandfold.

I do think though the argument in your later post that entry hasn’t cost anyone anything is a little simplistic.  Not me personally (I couldn’t give half a hoot because I’m immune to marketing) but some people do see their email address as having some intrinsic value, and in giving it, they have entered in to a transaction.  What they didn’t do, however, was read the terms and conditions of the draws which clearly state Bandit has the right to cancel a draw if foul play or fraud is “suspected”.  That sufficiently manages my expectations, in that I have none.  Anyone questioning the legality of cancelling the draw need only know that competitions like this in the UK must have a set of terms and conditions attached, and the terms in this case are completely standard for a giveaway of its sort.

So is cancellation wrong?  Without question, no.  Could it have been handled better?  Maybe a little but it could have been a lot worse.

Finally, are we human, or are we dancer?

I think the reason why some people feel cheated is because they might support and have supported the Bandit in other ways. I am from the US and cant take part in the regular draws so I was happy to see this come up and have been a big support of Bandit and Rocknrolla since the beginning. I kind of agree its an easy cop out to just cancel the draw and a kick in the face to people who have supported him. Feel free to block me not like it affects me watching his vids.

I’m gunna be in the majority of people moaning I guess. Personally this is the first time I signed up to a content creator from YouTube. Yes I enjoy the free entertainment. Yes I’m thankful for the content bandit creates, its entertaining but it’s also something which is beneficial for him as it is for us. I’ve seen a few replies from what I guess are mods saying be thankful for what you get… (I am). It doesn’t stop me feeling hard done by or like I’ve been cheated out of a potential win. I think I am more upset that this original idea hasn’t been able to be implemented when I was given a chance of winning. It’s frustrating a solution hasn’t been able to be found. (again not bandits fault necessarily) but as the guy running the competition to not be able to follow through with it has to fall at his feet. I now also feel like taking the time out to sign up here isn’t very valued. Thank you for the content you do create but this has left a sour taste and personally made me not want to bother with putting effort into something you do in the future.

    @BJM86

To return to my original point, if you don’t like it the solution is really simple…

That isn’t a sensible business stance for Bandit though.  With less viewers comes less revenue.  With less revenue comes less charitable donations.  I condemn any personal attacks against Steve for making this decision, and from what I read, some really vile people have popped their head out of their ass to be flatulent for a moment in the most horrible way.  At the same time, @kojak and many others should not be alienated or lambasted for protesting.  As long as they’re not being abusive then let them be heard.

I was disappointed with the cancellation but for different reasons to most.  Personally I don’t like to see division or favor among The Bandit’s following.  You can’t please everyone but you don’t need to subjugate people’s principals either.

I wonder if you feel the same about all those out there that have created duplicate accounts on websites through your links that are or have earned you a slice of their losses,  enabling you to gamble probably risk free ? if you haven’t got the technology or software to prevent duplicate account making then don’t run a giveaway in this manner. There will always be people who will try and beat the system.

Video slots has always been that way and betfair and paddy power was changed to that months ago and was said numerous time in video and on here the T&C’s just needed updating that is all. So in total over 3 out of 4 regular prize draws dont require you to use his link.

I only watch the highlights so I have missed that part. I was wrong then. Pretty good deal for those who gamble.

You’d all be screaming just as much if there was no giveaway! Complaining it’s Christmas and that Steve shouldn’t be such a Scrooge.

It just so happened there was a giveaway which required no financial commitment to enter and it was completely Steve perogative to run it how he saw fit.. including cancelling it due to cheaters.

As for the people saying he only did it to amass more followers.. do you honestly think he cares about his social stats? Any genuine follower will know he doesn’t give two shits about the numbers. He does it for fun.. the numbers are a by product.

I mean, if he really does do it just for fun, why have affiliate links at all?  Just put the videos up to YouTube when you can be arsed like a Trono or BuddyLove, rather than trying to monetise things.

It feels really naive to think that Bandit hasn’t always been finding ways to boost what must be a very decent income from generating traffic for the online casinos. That’s the only reason this website exists right, if YouTube still allowed affiliate links to be posted directly on its videos then gambling content creators would almost certainly still be peddling their links there and never gone to the expense of starting up their own websites.

So yeah, can understand why people would call out that there *may* have been shenanigans here to get the numbers up, but equally of course you can’t proceed with a flawed draw and so good news for the charities that some of that affiliate income is heading their way 🙂

Sorry to see the free giveaway has been seen by some individuals as a piss take but great to see a positive outcome from the bandit that the money will go to charity. Especially nice to see at this time of the year.

keep making the videos, your commentary is what keeps me coming back every week.

    happy new year!

Watched the Bandit for years now and all I can say is to me he sounds and acts like a top bloke.

I’ve read a few people saying he’s tricked them into likes and follows by announcing the free giveaway but I’d say nothings further from the truth and frankly for the sheer entertainment hes provided me on a dull Sunday afternoon I’m more than happy for him to pull the plug and donate it to charity.

I hope and wish him and his family all the best for 2020 and ignore all keyboard warriors.

Genuine question, I’ve been lurking around here for some time and remember some of the embarrassingly not subtle at all begging messages people used to write on here when Bandit used to give money randomly. With that in mind and advertising a free giveaway of £6,000 on an international platform, was he really that naive to think people wouldn’t increase their odds by opening multiple accounts and that everyone would play nice and fairly? What he chooses to do with his affiliate money is up to him, so no complaints it’s going to charity, but honestly, no one saw this coming?
