So I am someone who is new to slots. The other day after getting paid I decided to have a bash on Book Of Dead as I’ve seen numerous videos on it. I played through 500 spins without a bonus but it seemed like it was teasing something big. I knew it was hard to bonus because it has huge potential so decided to up my bet from £0.50 to £1 per spin. Over the next 200 spins I managed to get 5 bonuses (2 with Jacks, 2 with Aces and one with Queens) and guess what they paid in total…….. £30!  Over 5 bonuses I managed just 2 expansions without even having premium symbols. Is this what I should be expecting or is this just hugely unlucky? I won’t say exactly what I lost but it ended up being nearly a weeks wages across this game and two others: Who wants to be a millionaire (In which 20 free spins paid me just 17x) and Immortal Romance. I am just looking for some advice on how to get over a big loss and also wanting to know peoples overall opinion on the three games I mentioned. Normally I really enjoy my sessions, even when I lose, but the 90 minutes or so last week was some of the most boring play I have had on slots. I’ll sign off by saying it’s great to finally post something and become part of the community. All the best,  Shane

Your bonuses on Book of Dead at those stakes is pretty unlucky, yeah! I personally like Book of Dead, it’s a pretty standard game and although it can rinse you for a bonus, it is fair a lot of the time. Millionaire sucks in my opinion, and I’ve never had any luck with Immortal Romance and I used to play it a lot.

Best way to get over a big loss? Have a break from slots for a bit. It’s far too easy to get sucked in and get carried away after a losing session. Take some time off and revisit it again in the future after a short break. 🙂

    P.s. welcome to the forum!

When I personally go play slots, I consider my depost as lost the second I put it in my account, also knowing I can afford to lose that amount. This is the first step for me that’s mentally allowing me to play slots in the first place. If I don’t apply to this condition, I don’t play. That’s my personal rule, maybe that works for you to before even putting in a depost ;).

    As I said in a different post on this forum;
I usually play Book of Dead for about 50 spins. If the books didn’t show by then, I leave for something else. But really, everyone has their own style of playing. I was pretty lucky on my last BoD bonus tho, check the other topic in the slots section for my screenshot.

As Biohazard said; If you get the feeling you’ve lost too much money or if you’re really fed up with losing, take a break and return to slots when you feel relaxed and good about playing again.

    Good luck!

In the past I’ve deposited really low and played BOD as my first slot on lowest stake at 3 lines (literally 3p a spin) for 100 spins. I’d usually get a bonus or two in that 100 to double my balance and allow me to play other games at a higher stake.

If I’ve gone all in immediately, I tend to run out of money pretty quick. It does seem to bonus more often on much lower stakes, and for more.

Two bonuses within 100 spins?! I want to play your version of BoD!

Normally takes me at least 200 to 300 spins to land a single bonus…

I’m normally a table game player, poker being my poison and roulette/BJ being my downfall most times. Anyways, I did a similar thing as you but with a months wages…put it on a poker site, ran it up, upped the stakes and had a bad beat against a donkey calling an all in with K2s against my AJs for the majority of my balance and obviously he had to hit trips on the flop of 2s Qd 2h (had been playing a few hours, the guy was crazy…reraising a raise with 7/2o previously). I was left with £20 so decided to do 0.30p spins on book of the dead, I hit a feature when I was down to around £10 and my symbol was the A….anyways didn’t win much the first few spins but managed to hit a re-trigger and on one spin I hit an A on every line….ended up with a balance of £85 so not sure how much x that is but not bad for a 30 pence spin. Anyways the degen in me couldn’t stop there….went to play live BJ doing £5 bets ran it up to £105 and then started placing £20 per hand and lost 5 hands in a row being dealt 15 – 3 times and 16 the other 2.

The degen in me never learns!

I find the lower the stake the more bonuses you get. I player low stakes and get a lot of bonuses on bod but the payout will most likely be very low.

best slot for bonuses and low stakes is dead or alive on 9p and fast spinning. I had 5 bonuses in around 50 spins, the final one paying me 60 quid

that is, of course my opinion

I am also a lover a poker too and it can cause me to be completely degen. I once took down a tournament in my local casino for £645. Took my money to roulette and managed to increase even more to around £1100. I should have went home then as it was already late and I had recouped my loses for the last two weeks. However, like an idiot I decided to play £100 hands of BJ with only me vs the dealer. He took £500 of that £1100 in just 7 hands, so approximately 3 or 4 minutes. I thankfully had the sense to take the £600 and walk away.

Thanks for the welcome. After reading a few messages on here, including the one from yourself, I decided to take a break. Best decision I could have made. When I finally returned I was in a better mindset and thought of my next deposit as already lost before playing. Tried bod again and it finally paid. Had a nice hit on Queens with three re-triggers and it got me most of my previous loss back. Cheers for the advice lad.

Awesome, glad to hear it :). It’s much more fun playing with a clear head, rather than a tilting one!
